I have never thought that I would go to Philippines for practicing medicine to help people after graduation.
First of all, my decision of going to this service trip is correct. Remeber that when I have received the information of this event, I feel so moved and applied immediately, though my family’s objection.
I have experienced many new things in this trip, they were all unforgettable. On the third day, the hostage crisis happened. We all felt so sorry about that. But we determined to stay there. We CMA united together and continued to work here in the following days.
It is meaningful to have a tight schedule. I always like to try new things and challenges like learning Filipino, teaching general knowledge of Chinese medicine and acupoints at the school. We also lead the students to play games and visited the facilities and hospital there. Others like being interviewed in the radio program and doing home visits and consultation at the village. We used English and Filipino for consultation. All these were new experiences to me and very fruitful, too.
During these 7 days, I found that Filipino had a regular daily schedule, they had a balanced work and rest. The ways we used are simple, convenient, effective and inexpensive. In this poor village, it helped a lot and the healing efficacy is better than we have expected. I am so touching as we have gained their trust. In these few days of voluntary consultation, I have tried my utmost to help them, it was encouraging to see their good recovery progress. My sense of satisfaction is beyond words. I feel so blessed that I did not acclimatized and have any insect bites. I appreciated the locals of their sincere, their simple life and hospitality. The way how they cherish resources is what we have to learnt from them.
Last but not the least, I have to thank companions. They taught me knowledge of Chinese medicine and share their experiences. In this trip, I gained confidence and a driving force to further study .Hope that next time when I have chance to attend this kind of service, I can bring these healthy messages to another countries. Impact of lives of one’s life and makes our life become more meaningful.
